Nasreen Haroon is an active participant in a variety community activities. Nasreen has served as a regular panelist on Bill Rosendahl's "The God Squad" (1999-2004), "Beyond the Beltway" (2002-2003) and "Week in Review" television shows, all dedicated to the discussion of social issues on the Adelphia Cable Channel. An elected member of "Who's Who of American Women" (since 2000) and "Who's Who in America" (since 2001), Nasreen currently participates in or has been involved with a variety of community-based endeavors, a sampling of which includes serving as a:

  • Board member for Cornerstone Theater, a community based theater organization geared toward building bridges among different cultures and ethnicities

  • Board member for the Santa Monica Bay Interfaith Counsel, a group dedicated to educating different communities on current cultural challenges with the aim of ultimately building stronger community synergies

  • Co-Chair of the Muslim-Jewish Dialogue (sponsored by the Progressive Jewish Alliance, the Westside Jewish Community Center, Peace Now, the Islamic Center of Southern California and the Muslim Public Affairs Counsel), a group designed to create resolution between Muslims and Jews on the host of challenges and conflicts they face today

  • Board member and spokes-person for the Islamic Center of Southern California, as well as a senior member of the Muslim Public Affairs Council

  • Vice President of the Pakistan Art Counsel, affiliated with the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena, California

  • Founding Member of the DIL Literacy Program, whose agenda is to educate young Pakistani girls in rural areas of Pakistan

Nasreen is also is a regular guest lecturer at California State University, Los Angeles on Comparative Religion, addressing such topics as "Gender Roles & Religion" and "Emotion & Religion", as well as addressing the gambit of introductory lectures to religious topics and teachings. Recently, Nasreen was honored with a request to participate in the Getty-USC Art Journalist Fellowship Program (whose major leaders include David Hockney and Peters Sellars, among other influential individuals) at LACMA's Islamic Art Day (2004), where she lectured on her paintings that were shown on a monitor. She is also a regular speaker at a variety of religious institutions, museums and other social and philanthropic groups.
